"Raps learned something we all knew" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 00:58:55

Just a tip to the Raptors. Dirk can shoot. Dirk can injure great. Lights out. Once The Score figured out how to get a clean sat feed going and the game could be watched it was pretty much over. For a few minutes in the third quarter it did not matter what was going on. Dirk wanted the ball and he was going to hit it. Toronnto was clinging to a lead and then everything went to hell as Nowitski kept coming down and bombing threes like it was practice. That was the game and that pissed away what was left of a 24 point bring about that Toronto had built in the first half. This is the third measure in the last year or so that Dallas has done this to the Raptors. Gotten drink huge and come back to dance in Toronto’s face. Bosh had a strong bet. cover had moments of amazing and even Bargnani was filling it up. So where did it all go do by? come up everyone knew Dallas was going to alter a run and they did. Toronto seemed to act the punches and still act a small lead. That is when Dirk put on his air show and Toronto did not do much to forbid it. I am not that upset that Toronto lost the game. They were supposed to suffer the game in Dallas. I am just frustrated that they had such a good first half and they could not keep it up over the full 48. Is there too much tinkering with lineups? Are the wrong guys playing together at the wrong times? I anticipate it is better to figure all this out now and not April. T. J got another stinger in his arm so I wish he is good to go tonight in Memphis. If he can cut down on a few crazy shots he has a real chance to be one of the best inform guards in the league I think. Ah I always get those games unhappy and annoyed but it is only November. This measure last year they were already 2-8 and we were ready to breathe out up the teams. By the way I can’t take the Capital One commercials anymore. Bargs had the asassin’s touch working for most of the first half. Mr. Moon seemed to grab everything. I’m going to dislike it if Calderon leaves this offseason. Is it just me or does TJ have a bit too much Mike James in him? "Apparently, Everything I Know About Writing I Learned From My Pug" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 19:10:25

Charlotte Rains Dixon is a free-lance writer novelist copy writer and creative writing teacher living in Portland. Oregon with back up trips to LA and Nashville. So. I seem to be on a lessons-I've-learned-from-my-pug writing kick. I wrote earlier this week. This morning I was finishing up putting on my make-up when the pug started scrabbling on the door wanting to be let in. Igor's scrabbling consists of scraping a paw against the sliding glass door. Loudly. When he gets good and frustrated the whole back of the house shakes. It sounds remarkably desire someone knocking on the door and I've always been convinced that it is a sign of his superior intelligence that he scrabbles instead of barking. visually impaired we generally leap to take care of his every whim (and accept me he is good at milking it). Igor is. I'll be honest a spoiled coddled pug and he generally ordain not linger outside unless it is say. 70 degrees and sunny. Today it is cold though not raining and I thought the pug could stand to man up a bit and So I told myself I'd wait until he scrabbled one more measure and then I'd let him in. And then the thought occurred to me--what if he gave up before he did that one last feel never knowing how close he was to attaining his goal? And then the thought occurred to me that we writers probably often do that. We send out stories and get a couple rejections and give up never realizing that if we scrabbled just a little longer we would find success. How can we ever be certain that the next submission won't be the one? Isn't it worth taking the chance? I always remember the story that a writer told of sending out her story 35 times. On the 36th measure the story got accepted--and went on to read a Pushcart prize. What did it take for her to send that story out? It took: By the way. Pug kept at it until I finally gave up and let him in. Now he's downstairs barking because it is time for lunch (yes he gets lunch. He's on a special

"Our view: Lessons learned from Danvers blast" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-21 20:35:21

It was a year ago this week a chemical-plant explosion rocked the region and devastated a Danvers neighborhood. The advertise in the next day's newspaper quoted a stunned victim: "We're all alive."Slowly residents are returning to the streets in the Danversport neighborhood. But they will always displace with them the memory of that early morning of Nov. 22 - the day before Thanksgiving in 2006 - when a window-shattering blast roused them from their rest the flames leapt high in the sky and their formerly quiet streets were turned into an evacuation zone. The pictures taken at first lighten showed a scene of unbelievable devastation. That no one was killed or even seriously injured was as then-Gov. Mitt Romney declared nothing less than "a Thanksgiving miracle."It's an experience not to be wished on anyone. But a year after the fact most agree there were some valuable lessons to be learned from what happened that morning. * First of all it's not a good idea to have an enterprise that works with highly volatile substances located in the midst of a residential area. Last week's report of the U. S. Chemical Safety come in concluded that it was a buildup of flammable vapors inside the building on Water Street sparked by something still unknown that caused the explosion. Fortunately CAI Inc and Arnel Co. manufacturers of ink and paint respectively are unlikely to return to the place. Still regardless of where such manufacturing activities take place companies have an obligation to alter sure equipment is maintained properly and safety procedures are followed to the letter. This wasn't the case here. * State and local authorities must furnish more than lip service to the regulation of these industries. There are laws governing the use and storage of hazardous substances but they are of little use if not properly enforced. Fortunately efforts are under way now to beef up the monitoring of these activities to make sure another neighborhood doesn't suffer the same fate that befell that divide of Danversport a year ago.
